Form Builder
Create online forms that automatically generate PDFs and save everything to Airtable.
Overview
TypeFlow's Form Builder lets you:
- Build forms with a drag-and-drop editor
- Auto-generate PDFs when forms are submitted
- Save to Airtable automatically - no Zapier/Make needed
- Collect signatures embedded directly in PDFs
Note: TypeFlow forms are designed for PDF generation. If you need a general-purpose form builder without PDF output, consider other tools.
Create a Form
Prerequisites
- TypeFlow account
- Airtable account
- Google account (for templates)
Steps
- Select or create a template in TypeFlow
- Choose "Through a form" as your PDF generation method
- Pick your Airtable base and table
- Select an attachment field for the generated PDF
- You'll be redirected to the Form Builder
Form Builder
Add Fields
Select which Airtable fields to display in your form. Drag and drop to reorder.
Customize Thank You Page
After the form builder, configure the Thank You page:
- Add a header message
- Add paragraph text
- Drag and drop to arrange elements
Map Data
Map your form fields to your Google Docs template variables as usual.
Share Your Form
- Go to Share in the navigation
- Copy the form link
- Share with your recipients
When someone submits the form:
- A new record is created in Airtable
- The PDF is automatically generated
- Both are saved to your table
Collect Signatures
You can add a signature field to your forms and embed it in the generated PDF.
Setup
- In the Form Builder, drag and drop a Signature field
- Map the signature to an attachment field in Airtable
- Save your form
Two Workflows
1. New Record with Signature
Form creates a new record + generates PDF with signature.
2. Update Existing Record with Signature
Send a unique form link to update a specific record:
- Copy the second link from the Share page
- Paste it in an Airtable formula field
- Each record gets a unique form URL
- Submission updates that record and regenerates the PDF
FAQ
Do I need Zapier or Make for form submissions?
No. TypeFlow handles form submissions, record creation, and PDF generation automatically - no third-party automation tools required.
Can I collect signatures in forms?
Yes. Add a signature field to your form, and it will be embedded in the generated PDF automatically.
Where is form data saved?
Form submissions create new records in your Airtable table with all the collected data, plus the generated PDF in your attachment field.
Can I customize the form appearance?
Yes. The Form Builder includes customization options for styling your form and the thank you page.
